Many of the fragments were cut or dismantled from the gates and walls of Karnak and Luxor Temples. Most of these fragments date from the New Kingdom, including Akhenaten and later Kings. In Medieval times they were reused for new construction in churches, mosques and dwellings. These fascinating fragments are now stored in the Luxor Temple Block Yard.
